We’re 1

Happy birthday to us!

The story of the

UK CORGI CLUB

I

t all began with a little bit of social media ‘stalking’. You know the kind, you see a fluffy corg online and one thing leads to another, the next thing you know you’re meeting for puppuccino’s in the park on a Sunday morning in London.

Corgs travelled by train, car and tube to the Paddington Recreation Ground in Maida Vale, London, for a very muddy frap. It ended in a pub with the corgs sleeping and the humans deciding that watching corgs run around at high speed for a few hours is fun and we should definitely do this again.

FACEBOOK

A Facebook group was formed in January 2015. It’s pretty exclusive, you need to have a corgi and live in the UK. That’s about it. That’s how you join the UK Corgi Club!

WEBSITE

In August we launched www.ukcorgiclub.com to help to promote Corgi’s and to provide a useful source of information about the breed.

MEMBERS

We put up a short bio about each of the corgis who joined. Soon it became a veritable who’s who of the UK Corgi social media scene!

EVENTS

We started setting up events/meetups, and promoted mini-meetups which our members set up. We’ve had 17 corgis at our biggest meetup, but our upcoming corgi beach meetup should dwarf that!

We had a
calendar
competition

In September 2015 we asked you to submit your best photos of your corgs for a charity 2016 Corgi Calendar. Following 156 submissions and 6601 votes you chose your favourite corgi photos and through sales of the calendar you helped to raise over £725 for the Cinnamon Trust.

Voting for the competition was fierce and tested our new little website’s performance! Below are the pageview stats for the voting period. Can you spot when voting opened!?

THANK YOU!

On behalf of Leo, Marcel and Nia who, in between nap times, run the UK Corgi Club we’d like to thank every one of our members for making our first year so successful and we look forward to many more years of fluffy corgi fun to come.
